London man faces multiple charges after Tay traffic stop

TAY TOWNSHIP - A member of the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) while on patrol had completed a vehicle stop for a traffic-related investigation in the early hours of June 12, 2021 on William Street, Midland.

At 2:22 a.m. June 12, 2021 the officer observed the same vehicle being driven at a high rate of speed east bound on Highway 12 in Tay Township. The vehicle was safely stopped in a Quarry Road business parking lot at which time the officer noted a different driver and entered into a drinking and driving investigation and arrested the driver.

During the investigation the officer learned that the driver was under suspension for a previous drinking and driving investigation on June 6, 2021.

As a result of this investigation Owen Cadeau-Hennigar, 20 years old of London, has been charged with the following driving related Criminal offences;

  • Operation while impaired - alcohol
  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

And further with

  • Driving while under suspension
  • Disobey stop sign - fail to stop
  • Red light - fail to stop

Contrary to the Highway Traffic Act

The accused was released on an recognizance to appear before the  Ontario Court of Justice in Midland on June 24, 2021 and is subject to a 90-day licence suspension and vehicle tow/impound under the Ministry of Transportation (ADLS) guidelines.
