Marine officers from the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police  (OPP) were on patrol checking vessels and operators for equipment and impairment focusing on Giants Tomb and Beckwith Island areas along with patrols of Six Mile Lake, Gloucester Pool and the Trent System over the July 4 - July 21, 2022 time period.

Officers issued three tickets for liquor violations and five tickets for a mariners not having sufficient lifejackets on their vessel, six other mariners were ticketed for  Canada Shipping Act violations. During the officers patrols, 104 vessels and their operators were checked for equipment and sobriety during their 75 hours of patrol. 24 operators were warned for various other boating related offences.

Officers responded to 16 water based calls for service which included several calls for water access only domestic disputes and liquor offences on vessels ranging from paddle boards to 37'. Big or small we check them all for signs of impairment in the interest of water safety for all.

Officers also started their Saturday shift off with giving the Wye Heritage Marina Gas Dock gang a hand with the dockside Georgian Bay General Hospital Foundation "Fuel Your Hospital" event.
