Impaired charges laid after incidents in Tiny, Midland

One driver also charged with possession of prohibited device or ammunition

Southern Georgian Bay OPP officers charged three people with impaired operation in the past few days.

Shortly after 2 a.m. Sunday, police responded to a report of a pickup truck that had been driven into a bush off of Rue Lafontaine East in Tiny Township.

Sylvain Michel Payment, 31, of Tiny, was charged with operation while impaired (alcohol and drugs) and operation while impaired (blood-alcohol concentration 80-plus).

Police said they spoke with a driver of another vehicle at the scene, and she was also charged. Brittnay Edwards, 30, of Tiny, faces charges of operation while impaired (blood-alcohol concentration 80-plus) and being a novice driver with a blood-alcohol concentration above zero.

Shortly after 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, police responded to a call from a concerned citizen about a suspicious vehicle in the Sacred Heart Catholic School parking lot on Elizabeth Street in Midland.

When police arrived, “a number of occupants” fled from the vehicle, according to a news release, but the driver was identified and located.

Tanner McCue, 26, of Penetanguishene, has been charged with operation while impaired (drugs), operation while prohibited under the Criminal Code, and possession of a prohibited device or ammunition.

All three accused were released from custody and are set to appear in court Nov. 30. Their licences will be suspended for 90 days and their vehicles will be impounded for seven days.
