A Honey Harbour resident has been charged with shoplifting from a Midland area business.

Ontario Provincial Police say security at a Shoppers Drug Mart saw a customer leave without paying for merchandise at around 10 a.m. Thursday.

After the incident, officers spotted a suspect driving in Victoria Harbour, made an arrest and seized what they say was stolen property.

Sabrina Jody-Lynn Jatsur, 53, of Georgian Bay Township has been charged with theft under $5,000-shoplifting and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on September 21.

Police say overall they received a number of reports over the weekend about thefts that could have been prevented by “employing the simple tactics of ‘Lock It or Lose It.’”

“Motorists and home owners are reminded that locking your vehicle or bicycle prior to walking away can help save you a lot of grief replacing all of those papers and documents left behind in an unlocked vehicle,” police said.
