NEWS RELEASE
SOUTHERN GEORGIAN BAY OPP
*************************
Although the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police does operate the RIDE program at any hour, all year round, officers since the Festive RIDE commenced on Nov. 17, 2022, have checked over 1,300 vehicles and drivers at 99 different RIDE spot check locations on area roadways.

Only one driver during this time has been charged criminally with a drinking and driving offence as a result of being checked at a R.I.D.E. spot check location.

Drivers are reminded to make the "right choice" after consuming alcohol or drugs before getting behind the wheel and make a plan to get home safely.

Educating the public about safe driving practices with community safety partners is a priority.

If you see a possible impaired driver on our roadways, waterways or trails, call 911.
