Eight pounds of cannabis confiscated at RIDE stop in Tiny

Officers caught the smell of cannabis and initiated an investigation leading to the seizure of two large bags of cannabis

TINY TOWNSHIP - Officers from the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a RIDE check stop at the intersection of Concession Road 4 of Tiny Township at Crossland Road when they encountered a Ford pick-up truck being operated by a lone driver.

Upon speaking with the driver, an odour of cannabis initiated an investigation leading to the seizure of two large bags containing over 8 pounds of cannabis.

Charged is Uri Agarunov, 42 years old of Innisfil, with the following offences.

  • Possession of over 30g dried cannabis (or equivalent) in a public place contrary to the Cannabis Act
  • Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available contrary to the Cannabis Control Act
  • Have care or control of vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available contrary to the Cannabis Control Act

The accused was released from police custody on a recognizance to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on Jan. 27, 2022
