Couple walking dog in Midland assaulted

PENETANGUISHENE, ON - Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Southern Georgian Bay detachment responded at 9:01 p.m. June 12, 2020, to a report of a couple being assaulted while walking their dog on the Sunnyside Trail in Midland.

Officers spoke with the victims and learned of the incident and shortly after at 10:25 p.m. June 12, 2020 officers received a report of a break and enter to a residence in the Town of Penetanguishene. The suspect had departed prior to the arrival of the officers and after speaking to the victim and through investigation, the suspect for both incidents was located by uniform officers walking on Fuller Avenue, Penetanguishene.

Investigators have charged Donovan Heath, 29 years, of Penetanguishene with

  • Assault (two counts)
  • Break, Enter a place - commit indictable offence

The accused was released from police custody on a recognizance to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Midland on Aug. 27, 2020.
