A Tay Township man has been charged with impaired driving after a collision occurred Thursday.

Southern Georgian Bay OPP and Simcoe County paramedics responded at 5:45 p.m. to the scene on Old Fort Road near Hogg Valley Road in Tay. Inside a pickup truck were the driver and a dog.

“Fortunately, neither were injured. However, officers discovered evidence of drug use and impairment being displayed by the driver,” police said in a news release.

The driver was arrested and police found “a quantity of a suspected controlled substance.”

Kyle Podworny, 34, has been charged with operation while impaired (alcohol and/or drugs) and possession of a Schedule 1 substance. He was released from custody and was set to appear in court in Midland.
