Ontario Provincial Police have laid charges in two alcohol-related crashes this weekend in Tiny Township.

The first happened just before 8 p.m. Saturday.

Police were told a single vehicle had crashed off Champlain Road near Seneca Court.

“The driver was spoken to by dispatched officers who entered into a drinking and driving investigation,” said OPP in a news release.

Police say a 53-year-old Barrie woman registered less than 50 milligrams of alcohol per 100 millilitres of blood on the Intoxilyzer. She was issued an offence notice for careless driving contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.

Then just before 1 a.m. Sunday, police were called to a two-vehicle crash in the intersection of Balm Beach Road East at Wilson Road.

“Once at the scene, investigators spoke with the drivers with one of them becoming the subject of an impaired driving investigation,” OPP said.

Mariana Aburto Hernandez, 21, of Brampton has been charged with:

  • Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Dangerous operation

If you see what you suspect is an impaired driver or boater, police ask you to call 911.

“Impaired driving never ends well, please make a plan to get home safely,” OPP added.
