Area man, 34, facing child-pornography charges

Police say accused used social-media platforms such as Snapchat to access and share images of child pornography

Barrie police have arrested a local man who allegedly used social-media platforms such as Snapchat and other forms of communication to access and share images and videos of child pornography.

On Wednesday, Jan. 11, the Barrie Police Service Internet Child Exploitation Unit arrested a 34-year-old Barrie man after a yearlong investigation.

The man has been charged with accessing child pornography, possession of child pornography and making child pornography available. He was held for bail and released the same day with several conditions and a future court date.

The name of the accused was not released.
