911 call leads to impaired driving arrest in Midland

Members of the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded at 2:45 a.m. July 22, 2020 to a 911 call from a motorist on Balm Beach Road in Tiny Township reporting a eastbound vehicle driving erratically endangering a number of other vehicles on the roadway. An OPP officer nearby located and stopped the suspect vehicle on Balm Beach Road at Sundowner Road in the Town of Midland and upon speaking with the driver entered into an impaired driving investigation. The investigation continued at the detachment with the investigative support of a Drug Recognition Officer (DRE).

As a result of this investigation the lone driver of the vehicle Thomas Kruszynski, 43 years, of Mississauga has been charged with:

  • Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

The accused driver's licence has been suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days as per the conditions of the Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension (ADLS). Accused was released from police custody on an undertaking to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Midland on Oct. 8, 2020.

OPP officers always appreciate the assistance of the public in the interest of public safety who help remove impaired drivers who present a clear danger to others on the roadway. OPP officers remind drivers that they will be taking all precautions available during this time to protect themselves and others while conducting investigations either at the roadside or at detachment.
