BRAMPTON, Ont. — Police west of Toronto say three people are dead after a car they were travelling in collided with a tree in Brampton, Ont.

Peel Regional Police spokesperson Sgt. Jennifer Trimble says officers discovered the bodies in a vehicle engulfed in flames after responding to a 911 call placed around 2 a.m. today.

They believe the vehicle was travelling south on Conestoga Drive near Elmvale Avenue when it left the roadway for unknown reasons and crashed into the tree.

Police and fire services who arrived on the scene found the vehicle in flames and reovered the bodies inside once the blaze was extinguished.

Trimble says officers have yet to determine the ages or genders of the victims.

While the scene has been cleared and roadways reopened, she says the collision remains under investigation.
