Great Uncle to many and loved by friends and family alike.

Born in Holland shortly before the German occupation, Gerry spent the first 16 years of his life in Holland before emigrating to Canada with his family in 1955. A proud Canadian, he often spoke of how lucky his family was to settle in Ontario, first in Clarkson and then at RR#4 in Georgetown. In his early 20’s, he met and subsequently married Jackilyn Oliver (now Brown). They brought their young family to Midland in 1969 when Gerry purchased Eisenberg Tire and Sports (subsequently renamed The Bike Shop). He went on to create two other businesses in Midland: Norsim Equipment and Bestway Rental.

During his time in business, Gerry was also active in the town of Midland, holding positions like President of the Rotary Club, President of the Midland Golf and Country Club and President of the Midland Bay Sailing Club. Eventually he retired and spent his summers in Midland / Balm Beach and his winters in Ixtapa / Zihuatanejo. A true extrovert, Gerry loved meeting and getting to know people. He took a true interest in the many people he met along the path of life. Along with boating, golfing, skiing and fishing, it was his greatest hobby.

A Celebration of Life will be held at The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 80 at 186 Queen Street in Midland on Saturday, September 10th from 1 pm to 5 pm.

With much gratitude and thanks for the care given to Dad in his final days, donations to Tomkins House, Huronia Hospice, are welcomed.

RIP Gerry — from your friends in the north, remember to keep your stick on the ice, and from your friends in the south, hasta luego mi amigo.
