It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Bradley Peter Turner on Wednesday May 25th, 2022 in his 60th year.

He passed away peacefully at Georgian Bay General Hospital with his sister by his side. Brad was born in 1962 in Galt, Ontario. The son of Marian (predeceased) and Leslie Turner. Brother of Kelly Turner. Brad will be dearly missed by his cousins, friends, and family.

Brad loved his music, movies, and books – he had an unusual skill of choosing the perfect song for a particular mood or situation because he was so tuned in to song lyrics. He could speak intelligently about any topic. He had a large thirst for knowledge and was constantly researching and learning new things. He held a BSc in Computer Information Systems, and at one time he enjoyed working as an electrician. But his true calling was to help others.

Brad, was a kind and gentle soul who worked for many years as a peer support worker for Wendat. He was also a great support to his friends and house mates in the Residence on Water Street (the Rez) – a care residence that houses 22 people. He bought pizza for everyone once a month. He loaned his computer to others and helped them with their research. He shared his stories and wisdom and always had something positive to say. We were told there was no one at the home that he didn’t have a friendship with.

Brad wanted to be an organ donor or donate his body to science because he thought it might make a difference to someone else’s life. Unfortunately, that wasn’t possible because he was ill with infection. But in the hospital while unconscious, his sister did ask him if he would be her guardian angel and watch over her from the other side the way he did when they were children. At this idea, he raised his eyebrows and then left peacefully. We think he left quickly so he could take on this role and continue to be of service. He will be missed terribly, but we’re grateful that he is now free and at peace.

A Celebration of Life will be held June 5th, 2 pm to 5 pm, at the Midland Golf and Country Club, Main Building, 9536 Highway 93 North, Midland. Casual dress such as jeans, shorts, and t-shirts is encouraged, or please feel free to wear what you are most comfortable with. Finger foods will be served. There will be an open mic to share memories, and note cards provided to submit memories in writing.

Donations can be made to the Canadian Mental Health Association or Wendat Community Programs.
