June 9, 1953 – August 14, 2023

Our hearts are broken to announce the passing of B.J. Sheba at the age of 70, with family at her Penetanguishene home. Beloved wife of Steve Sheba of 49 years, devoted mother of Justyne (Gordon MacIsaac) and special Mimi to granddaughter Malina MacIsaac.

B.J. is pre-deceased by parents Albert & Rita Cote (Laurin), sister Doreen Contois, sister-in-law Joyce Cote (Collins), nephew Michael Contois and precious grandson Watson Gray MacIsaac.

Survived by brother-in-law Frank Contois, brothers Nelson Cote (late Joyce), Neil Cote (Debbie Morris), Raymond Cote (Pauline), Peter Cote (Madeleine), sisters Madeline Matheson (Duncan), Katherine Blake (Patrick), Theresa Cote-Lindberg (Jeff), Anita St. Amant (Peter), Michelle Moore (Simon) and brother-in-law Michael Sheba (Judy). B.J. will be lovingly remembered for generations by and through her nieces and nephews and their families who all adored her. Memories are cherished by her life-long friend Darlene (Tunie) Kinney (Neil).

In her usual style, B.J. fought her battle with cancer for more than 5 years with bravery, dignity and elegance. As a very creative woman with a passion for design, B.J. loved working with friends and clients through her successful home decorating business B.J. Sheba Interiors & Designs. Her zest for life went beyond decorating as she loved to entertain friends and family, always willing to host special occasions (with a theme). As a connector, she always filled a room with her smile and energy, truly the life of every party. Travel was certainly another passion, but perhaps not as much as her love for life and home on Georgian Bay, boating and cottaging as well as winter stays at her lovely winter home on Fort Myer’s Beach.

The family would like to send a special thank you to B.J.’s cousin Nancy Cook for her devotion and assistance during B.J.’s battle as well as sister Michelle Moore for constant support to the family and Allison Moore for her much appreciated guidance in times of need. The devotion of her care team went above and beyond, especially the care and support of nurse Angie Maloney.

A memorial mass will be held at St. Margaret’s Catholic Church on Tuesday, August 22, 2023 at 2:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Tomkins House Hospice would be appreciated by the family.
