It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Kimberly (Kim) Lisa Penna who died peacefully and unexpectedly at the age of 63 on December 26, 2022.

She is survived by her mother Sonia Penna and her brother David Penna (Brenda). Kim will be sadly missed by her maternal aunts Karen (Thyret), Judy (Alford), Sue (Veh), Barbara (Kidd), and Greta (Garriock) as well as numerous cousins and second cousins. Kim was the eldest grandchild of Fred and Lissen Bodtker (deceased). Born and raised in Toronto, Kim spent her adult life in Midland and Penetang where she enjoyed camping, fishing, and outdoor adventures. Kim’s disabilities never held her back and her numerous accomplishments included riding a bicycle, competing in the Special Olympics and bowling.

Kim loved to walk but her greatest passion was swimming. She eagerly looked forward to family reunions and diligently sent birthday and Christmas cards to all her aunts and cousins. Her many hobbies included jigsaw puzzles, following the royal family, watching movies, volunteer work and card games. The family expresses their sincerest gratitude to all who were part of Kim’s life over the years including her support workers through Community Living, health care workers, staff at the YMCA, friends and so many others who knew her.

A Celebration of her life will be held next summer at which time her ashes will be interred in the family plot at St. Ann’s Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to the Penetanguishene Funeral Home.
