September 19, 1936 ~ January 8, 2021 (age 84)

Passed away peacefully on Friday January 8, 2021 at the age of 84. She was the 4th of 6 children of the late Biagio and Augustina Amodeo. Born September 19, 1936, Josie grew up in Toronto, Ontario where she met and married the love of her life, the late John O’Hara. Josie was infatuated with John, the handsome fire fighter she would see driving in his baby blue convertible down Ranee Avenue, the street where they both lived. After a short engagement they would marry on October 1, 1956. Three children and 12 years later they moved to Penetanguishene where they spent the rest of their days together.

Josie loved life and everyone she encountered, she was always happy and would see the best in everyone and every situation. She was outgoing, very social, and loved to dance. She treasured her children and cherished visits with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Josie will be lovingly missed by her three children Cathy Marchand (Bill) Dan O’Hara (the late Diana) John O’Hara (Bonnie), her grandchildren Danielle Gibbons (Marlon), Bradie Stark (Jeff), Blake Marchand, Jen O’Neil (Austin), Kelly O’Hara (Stephan), Taylor Burke (Brandon), Jonathan O’Hara (Rachel). She was adored by her six great grandsons, Ryder, Weston, Rowan, Noah, Tatum and Theo.  She will be sadly missed by her sister Marie Graton and sister-in-law Shirly Amoedo, many nieces, nephews, friends, and especially the Birthday Girls.

Josie was predeceased by her brother Art Amodeo and sisters Dorothy, Leena, and Sally, her mother and father-in-law Jack and Lillian O’Hara, brothers-in-law Pat, Doug, Joe, Wayne, John and sister-in-law Audrey.

Josie faced her final days with dignity and grace, grateful for the full life she lived. She will be forever in our hearts. Once we are able, we will host a celebration to honor Josie's life If desired, memorial donations to Georgian Bay Cancer Support Centre or Georgian Bay General Hospital Foundation would be appreciated.
