Lucille Wylie (nee Lefaive), 65, of Midland passed away on February 6, 2021 at Georgian Bay General Hospital. Loving wife and best friend of Donn Wylie for 46 years, she was adored by her children, Jessica (Rodney), Scott (Anna), and Amanda (Justin). Lucille was a devoted grandmother to Noah, Sarah, Ethan and Maya. She will be sadly missed by her parents Zita and Bernie Lefaive, her brothers and sisters Don (Angie), Anne (Ron), Richard, Paul (Janet), Denis and David (Sharon), and her many nieces, nephews and goddaughter.

Lucille’s infectious smile warmed people’s hearts, put them at ease, and made everyone around her feel noticed and special. Lucille loved everyone she met and treated them as though they were family. Faith was her anchor guiding her life’s decisions and the way she cared for others.

Some favorite memories from Lucille’s childhood were late-night smelt fishing & fish frys, searching the forest for morels on spring days and catching multicoloured, spotted lizards. Lucille and her siblings would catch the lizards, name them, play with them for hours and then release them back into the swamp. On Halloween, the kids would convince their dad to drive the family into town so they could get more candy than the Perrault’s. Dad also came to the rescue every time Lucille and her sister would crash the ‘Moto-ski’ into the barb wire fence and get the sled stuck! On Saturdays her mom would drive Lucille and her sister to tap dance lessons and bring them for treats afterwards.

Lucille and Donn married when she was 19-years-old and they had 3 children together. Lucille was an incredible mom who always emphasized the importance of kindness and compassion. Forever young at heart, Lucille could play for hours. Her favorite activities were whatever her children wanted to do. Whether it was food fights, picnics in the park, building forts, trips to the store for candy, or foot wars, she was always up for it! Lucille was a free spirit who loved spending time in nature. Some of the lessons she taught involved catching frogs, picking flowers, fishing, swimming at the beach, gardening in the back yard and dancing in the rain. Other family ventures included lemonade stands, catching dew worms at 5:00 in the morning, and driving the kids around on the morning paper route.

As a grandmother, Lucille spent countless hours planning and organizing fun activities to play with her grandchildren. She will be fondly remembered by them for her famous spaghetti & meatballs, her scavenger hunts, golfing excursions and her goofy nature (like when she took pies in the face to make them laugh or when she would hide under blankets to surprise them). If anything went wrong in their lives, they could always count on Lucille for sympathy and comfort.

Lucille’s depth of character went beyond what she showed on the surface. She loved Jesus and everyone around her. Words will never do justice to the beautiful person that she was. Lucille had many crosses to bear but no matter how heavy her load, she always focused on helping others with theirs. Her greatest joy in life was found when she was contributing to the happiness of others.

As per Lucille’s wishes, her ashes will be joined together with Donn’s when he passes. Their final resting place will be at Lakeview Cemetery in Midland. The family plans to break bread together in Lucille’s honour when it is safe again to do so.

If desired, a memorial donation can be made to Diabetes Canada in Lucille’s memory.
