After a short, but courageous battle with cancer, it is with deepest sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved Karen Keays, on November 22, 2023 at the age of 63.

Karen passed away peacefully with her family by her side at Hospice Huronia -Tomkins House. Loving wife of 26 years to Tim, beloved mother of Paulette Light (Ashley), Leonard Charlebois & Terry Charlebois (Ashley Jones). Proudest Memere of her cherished grandchildren Sarah, Patrick, Sophia and Brooklyn.

She will be greatly missed by her brother David (Mar), sisters Pauline, Doris (Robin) & Shirley (Richard), her many friends and neighbors, and her dog Gizmo.

Karen dedicated her life to serving others as a nurse at GBGH. She was proud of her role and performed her duties with care, compassion and the upmost dedication to her patients. When she was not at work Karen loved to spend time with Tim, her children and grandchildren. She loved fishing, campfires, get-togethers and she loved Bingo!

A life so beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered. Please join us to mourn the passing of Karen Keays. A Celebration of Life is being held at the Bryan Orser Hall in Penetang, on December 16, 2023 from 1:00-4:00, with a memorial service from 2:00-2:30. Karen loved bling and shiny things, please wear your brightest bling in her honour.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations in Karen’s memory to Hospice Huronia -Tomkins House. The family would like to thank the special people that provided the highest level of care and concern for Karen during her battle with cancer; the staff and nurses of Hospice Huronia -Tomkins House, Dr. Follwell, Dr. Russell, Dr. Cochrane, Emily Dampier from RVH, all the RVH oncology nurses, Bayshore nurses Elise & Erin, and Radiation Technologist Devon. You were all a ray of sunshine for her during a very difficult time.
