Passed away at the age of 96 at Georgian Bay General Hospital on Sat Jan 22, 2022. Predeceased by her husband Wasyl (Bill). Loving mother to Eva (late Heino) Luik, Anna (Gerry) Chaput, Olga (Morille) Lance. Babcia to Lily (Jason), Joel, Nicholas and Jake Double, Babcia to Sloane and Jude.
Liliana was born in Poland in 1925, and as a young teen, lived thru the German occupation during WW2 and later Soviet rule until she immigrated to Canada in 1961. Here she met and married Bill. Initially they lived in Toronto and eventually moved to Midland, after having spent a few summer holidays on beautiful Georgian Bay. In the 1970's, together they owned and operated Liliana Luncheon Room until the restaurant building and adjoining Wagg's Laundry, were torn down.
They started a second restaurant, The Liliana Restaurant in the new building, at the same location. Both she and Bill enjoyed being a part of the community and serving many local business owners and residents, as well as busloads of tourists. It was a great gathering place where people would meet regularly and enjoy catching up on the local daily news. Upon retirement Liliana took pleasure in the simple things in life, meeting friends for coffee at the mall, spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren. She was a kind and thoughtful person, who always enjoyed meeting people and telling them her life stories. A private family celebration will be held in the spring.
