Born July 10, 1924 in Wasaga Beach to Frank and Flora Tate.  Passed away peacefully at Hillcrest Village Care Centre, Midland on September 1, 2021.  Predeceased by her beloved husband, Al Hawkins (2002).  Loving mother of Craig Hawkins (Kathy), Cameron Hawkins (Dale), and Cathy Hawkins (Don).  Cherished grandmother of Amanda Regimbal (Jason), Shannon Bergie (Jason), Matthew Hawkins (Victoria Hughes), Jason Hawkins (Christine McCourt), Tyler Brown (Samantha) and Nathan Brown.  Great grandmother of Lauren, Kyree, Chase, Greyson, Callen, Griffin, Everett, Georgia, Viola, Gordon and Lexi.  Dear sister of Elizabeth Siberry, the late Frank Tate and the late Gwendolyn Pennington.

Birdie spent many years as a teacher at Trenton High School.  She taught health and physical education as well as home economics.  Upon retirement in 1997, she travelled widely with her husband Al, skied and enjoyed her time at the cottage near Barry’s Bay.  She returned to Wasaga Beach in 2003 and later moved to Penetanguishene and finally, Midland.

The family would like to extend they sincere thanks to the staff at Hillcrest Village for their compassionate care they provided to Birdie for the past seven years.

A private Celebration of Life will be organized for Birdie’s extended family at a later date.
