Dec. 5, 1920 - Jan. 30, 2023

With saddened hearts, we announce the passing of a very dear mother, special Nan and Great-Nan.  Phyllis is survived by her son Tom (Arline), daughter Jane, grandsons Shawn, Christopher and Dalton, great granddaughters Logan, Lily, Sierra and great grandson Alex. Phyllis is predeceased by her husband Thomas Earl Fisher and son Robert Bruce (Bob).

Phyllis was a one of a kind lady whose positive outlook on life set the example for her children and grandchildren to follow. Her strong work ethic and moral values were evident throughout her amazingly long life.

Born and raised in Moosomin, Saskatchewan, she relished in recounting fond memories of her

childhood on the prairie farm.  Soon after marriage to Earl, they settled in Port McNicoll where Phyllis applied her excellent cooking and baking skills as they operated the Port McNicoll Inn, then located not far from where the Keewatin sits today, whose clients were the men who worked for the CP Rail and CP Ships.  In the early 1950’s, Phyllis began her long career in hairdressing, opening Fisher’s Beauty Shoppe in Midland. Customers were always made to feel at home & were often served tea and homemade cookies along with their fresh hairdo. Customers were not just customers, they became friends for life.  Phyllis’ happiness revolved around people and animals and how to help them. Tom, Bob and Jane’s

friends remark that it was a joy to be there. The door was always open no matter what hour. Her grandsons attest to her frequent spoiling them rotten but also that she could be depended on for anything. Phyllis loved her family, neighbours and friends.  Lessons learned from Phyllis include enjoyment of each day, being kind to all, having a good sense of humour, and being amazed by nature’s beauty like watching crocus heads popping through the snow.

Family wish to thank staff at GBGH and Hillcrest Village for their wonderful care and support.

As per Phyllis’ wishes, there will be no funeral and spring internment of ashes will take place.

In lieu of flowers, you may wish to donate to a charity of choice in Phyllis’ memory.
