Marcel was born on February 5, 1929, at his family home in Penetanguishene. He was the 5th child born in his family of 10. At age 16, following his 3 older brothers, he enlisted in the Merchant Marines during WWII. After the war, he met and married the love of his life, Julia. Shortly after their wedding, he was posted to the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry and the Royal 22è Regiment where he served in the Korean War.

After the war, they purchased their family home, where they raised their family and reside to this day. For the next several years, he worked diligently with his children by his side selling bread locally door to door. He later transitioned to working for the town of Penetang where he trained many teenagers in their summer jobs and maintained the arena during the winter months. His children and grandchildren have many fond memories spent at the arena with him that they will treasure dearly.

At age 65, he retired from the town but continued to supervise the improvements to the local parks and amenities. Over the next several years, Marcel and Julia enjoyed traveling, gardening, participating in local activities, and relishing in the love of their growing family. Marcel was a member of the Knights of Columbus and a dedicated and proud Legionnaire. He was strong in his faith and a dedicated church member of St. Ann’s Parish.
He will be missed dearly by his friends and family.

Viewings will take place at Penetanguishene Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 26, 2023 at 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Ann’s Parish on Wednesday, September 27, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. with a luncheon to follow.
