It is with deepest sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved mother and Oma, Helga Emma Dietz, on December 5, 2023 at the age of 86.
Helga passed away peacefully with her family by her side at the Orillia Soldiers Memorial Hospital. She is predeceased by her loving husband, Karl-Heinz Dietz. She is beloved mother of Peter (Susan), Bridget (Gary) and Barbara (Todd). She is beloved by 6 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, friends and neighbors.
Helga was born in Germany and came to Canada, initially settling in Toronto where she started her family with Karl. The family moved to Midland Ontario in 1967 and Helga and Karl remained there until their passing. She was a successful business owner as co-owner and co-proprietor of the Globe Delicatessen in Midland for 14 years. Helga was an adventurous spirit who loved to travel and she enjoyed trips and outings with her family during the summers. She loved gardening, and was an active member of the Midland Horticultural Society and the Friends of Wye Marsh wildflower garden.
She created wonderful life-long memories for many, and will be sadly missed.
