It is with great sadness that the family announces the sudden passing of James (Tikey) Gordon William DeWitt, on February 7th, 2023, in his 41st year, while on vacation in the Dominican Republic. Survived by his partner of nearly 20 years and mother of his children, Jessica Ladoucer. Loving and committed father to Emily (Kyle), Abigail, Isabella, and Owen. Beloved son to Rose Mary and Morley Traux and James DeWitt. Devoted brother to Pamela Venne (Marcel), Aimee McNeil (Donald), Carrie DeWitt (Paul), Steven DeWitt (Megan), Melanie Lebel and Laura Christian. He will be sadly missed by his cousin, Daryl Fournier (Samantha), best friend, Mike Labatte (Marcie), Father-in-law, Ricky Ladoucer, and Brother-in-law, Jason Ladoucer. He will be fondly remembered by many other cousins, friends, nieces, nephews and one great nephew. Predeceased by his Stepmother, Debra DeWitt, Mother-in-law, Karen Ladoucer and Brother, Michael DeWitt.

Jimmy, better known as “Tikey”, grew up for most of his life in Penetanguishene ON and surrounding area. He loved the great outdoors and was an avid fisherman, hunter, and loved to ski-doo, swim, have bonfires and go boating. Many childhood summers of his were spent playing baseball with his family, swimming at the beach with friends and strawberry picking in the fields with his sister, Pam. Tikey had a passion at a young age for building things and developed it into a career by owning and operating his own company, DeWitt Contracting and co-owning Dewennes Restaurant with his sister, Pam, and brother-in-law, Marcel. He spoke highly of his contracting crew and referenced them as “his boys”.

Tikey loved to have a good time, always making sure to be the life of the party. He had such a great sense of humour and took pleasure in making people laugh. He was selfless and would give anyone the shirt off his back. Tikey was always on the go, living his life in the fast lane, with very little slowing him down. He beat to his own drum, lived by his own rule book, and reminded everyone to “drive fast, take risks”…but only in a Dodge, never a Ford. Tikey loved life and had a spirit like no other. He was well loved and will be sadly missed by everyone he knew.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to a Gofundme page, organized by Amanada Linnenbank to cover the costs of his funeral, with the remainder going in trust for his 4 children. Funeral arrangements to be announced later.
