It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Glenda Marlene Dempsey, July 23, 2022 at RVH hospital in Barrie. She fought a courageous battle with cancer and is now at peace with her beloved family in Heaven. Glenda was born in Midland, Ontario on March 26, 1938 and was a talented hairdresser, an avid reader, and an amazing creator of beautiful Afghan blankets.
Glenda is predeceased by her mother Phyllis (Boyd) Dempsey and father James Franklin Dempsey, sister Patricia (Dan) Donnelly, sister Donna (Gary) Bell, and sister Margaret (Douglas) Parliament.
Glenda will be greatly missed by her sisters Sandra Dempsey of Barrie, Annalea Cadeau of Whitby, and her brother James Boyd Dempsey of Barrie. She will be forever in the hearts of her many nieces and nephews. Her nieces, Josie and Laney, had the wonderful advantage of growing up in the same household, referring to her lovingly as their ‘second mom’.
Glenda will be remembered for her gentle nature, her beautiful spirit, her love of family and her pets. When asked recently as to what was the most memorable time in her life, she said she cherished the great times she spent with family at the cottage on Tea Lake. Her presence in our lives will be missed.
