It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our mother, Dolores Currie (nee Lancaster) on February 23, 2024. Her final moments were spent peacefully at the Huronia Hospice – Tomkins House surrounded by her loved ones.

Dolores married the love of her life, Lawrence Currie, on August 21, 1965. Together they embarked on a journey filled with love, laughter, and many cherished memories. Dolores was broken hearted when Lawrence was taken from her in September 2021. She would often reference missing his company sitting in the backyard, or him taking a trip to get her a Timmies and watching curling together.

Dolores was once again heart broken by the recent loss of her so-in-law, Christine’s husband, Al Forget, in November 2023.

Dolores is survived by many who loved her. Her two daughters, Christine Forget (nee Currie) and Jennifer Currie (Lindsay), her beloved grandchildren Rachelle, Christian, Dane and Nolan, and of course, her newest love, her great grandchild Miss Maizie Wallis.

Dolores also leaves behind many extended family and close friends that have shared many special memories over the years and just this past year began to build relationships with her newfound family, bringing some peace and closure to her childhood story.

Dolores was a dedicated customer service representative at NEBS business forms for over 30 years and took pride in her career. Known for her fierce love and loyalty for her family and friends, she would ask to be remembered for her generous spirit of giving, her quick wit and her legendary Broccoli casserole.

One of Dolores’s last requests was to host her own Celebration of life on her upcoming birthday in June. For those of you who knew her well, know that is what we must do! A Celebration of Life will be held on June 15th at the Penetang Curling club from 1:00 – 4pm. The presentation to honour the life of Dolores Currie will start at 2pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to be made to Huronia Hospice – Tomkins House in Penetanguishene, Ontario.
