It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of a wonderful mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Bernice Cote, in her 94th year, at Soldiers Memorial Hospital in Orillia, on November 20, 2023.
Bernice was predeceased by her loving husband Robert “Bob” Cote. She was the cherished mother of Mike, Tim(Kathleen), Cathy Loughran, Sue McIntosh(Rich), and Pat(Laura). She will be sadly missed by her dear sister, Dorothy Emmerson, and brother-in-law Gord Emmerson. She was predeceased by siblings Clarence Lomas(Dorothy), Bill Lomas(Barb), and Joan Emmerson. Also predeceased by brother-in-law Tom Emmerson, Cliff Cote(Yvette), Ken Cote(Anita), and Don Cote(Ellen).
Mom’s pride and joy was being a grandmother(or “Diggie”) to 9 grandchildren, Romeo, Rae Lynn, Cheryl (Jeff), Steve(Jen), Scott (Kasia), Matt(Nicole), Tanya, Kyle, and Carlee(Ryan). Also loved by her great grandchildren, Isla, Ethan, Zachary, Leah, Cayden, Keira, Bryn, Owen, Nolan and Maverick.
There will be an internment and a celebration of life in the spring 2024.
The family would like thank all the residents of Georgian Terraces in Penetanguishene, for your incredible friendships and camaraderie. Also, thank you to all the staff on the Orillia Unit of Trillium Manor in Orillia, for your kindness and warm-hearted care of Mom during her short stay.
Mom was a lover of all music, and enjoyed the pub nights at the Georgian Village. She was also a news junkie, and an avid sports fan, loving all sports, but especially cheering on her beloved Montreal Canadiens.
And to you Mom, your memory is a gift we will treasure and carry with us forever. We love you and miss you already. Go join Dad in the garden…….he’s been waiting.
