January 25, 1940 ~ March 31, 2021 (age 81)
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Walter Melvin Brown at Georgian Bay General Hospital, on Wednesday, March 31, 2020 at the age of 81. Beloved husband of 56 years to Ruth Brown (nee Anderson).
Loving father to Paul (Deanna) and Michael (Kim). Grandfather to Steven, Jessica (Dan), Tyler (Julia), Ryan and Allison. Great-grandfather to Calla and Lia. Walter will be fondly remembered by his cousin Tom Johnson and his many friends along the way. The family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses at Georgian Bay General Hospital 2 North. Special thanks to Dr. Sibomana Chabikuli and Dr. Jeffrey Golisky for their care and compassion.
Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date when gatherings are permitted. Memorial donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada or Sick Kids Foundation are greatly appreciated. Mel was very active with hockey. As soon as he could walk, he was playing the game he loved. Mel played up to the professional level with the Toronto Marlies. He later coached for many years with great success teaching younger players to love the game as he did.
Mel also loved golf and played it as much as possible. He taught his family a strong work ethic during his 32 years with GM. He loved his wife and family in his own way and tried to show it by working hard at all he did. Mel will be missed greatly but never forgotten!
