Jack passed away peacefully with his family by his side at Georgian Bay General Hospital on Sunday August 14, 2022 in his 96th year. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 59 years, (Matilda) Jeanne Bowman (nee Blackwell).

Devoted father to daughters Sharonne (Sheri) Jean Palmer (Larry) and Catherine Anne Bauman (the late Bryan), proud grandfather to Sara Helen Maenhaut (Nick) and Prairie Catherine Royle (Justin) and great grandfather to Melody and Mason Maenhaut, and Jack Royle. He was a brother-in-law to Shirley Rahman (the late Ralph) and uncle to John, the late Christie and Steve Rahman. He is also survived by nephews David Bowman (Joanne) and Jim Bowman (Marg) and niece Susan Bowman.

Jack was born in Cambridge (Preston), Ontario, the son of Arno and Renatta Bowman. He was predeceased by his brothers Quentin and Vern Bowman. His father coached the Preston hockey and baseball teams and passed on his love of the sports to Jack. His Mom sewed all the uniforms for the hockey team!

Jack had an outstanding career in banking, managing branches for the Bank of Montreal across the province, gathering close friends wherever he went.

Jack and Jeanne were avid golfers and were snowbirds for many years in Florida. They hosted the best family gatherings at their cottage on Bucham’s Bay on the Ottawa River. Everyone enjoyed their pig roasts and touring with them on the water in their pontoon boat, “Pogo Too”. He enjoyed sailing, scuba diving in the Caribbean, skiing, and playing bridge and poker. Jack had a wonderful voice and was in the Men’s Choir in Green Briar, Alliston. He was always quick with a laugh. Jack was kind and generous, the first to aid and comfort both family and friends in need.

The family would like to thank the wonderful folks who helped care for him over the past few years at Chartwell Tiffin House in Midland – Suman and her team, The Villa Care Centre in Midland and Alanna and the other compassionate people at the Georgian Bay General Hospital.

The family will gather for a celebration of life in the near future. If you wish, a donation can be made in his name to the Georgian Bay General Hospital.
