Elaine passed away peacefully at Southlake Regional Health Centre on December 23, 2023 with her daughter by her side.
Elaine is predeceased by her husband Alvin (Lloyd) Barnes of nearly 51 years. She had two children, Kevin and Sharon and a grandson, Grayson who she adored.
She will be missed by her brothers, Russell (Jean), Eric and Sean (Tammy) as well as many nieces and nephews, her brother-in-law, Pattrick Barnes (the late Cecillia) and her sister-in-law, Betty Cascagnette (the late Ted Yon). She is predeceased by her brother, Keith and her sister-in-law Jeannie Johnson.
Elaine was an active member of Girl Guides of Canada for most of her life and received a life saving medal as a young teen when she helped her siblings escape a fire that destroyed their home.
She loved to stitch and craft with her best friend from childhood, Debra Fendley.
Elaine was born, raised and resided in Port McNicoll most of her life and she was very proud of her deep roots in the community.
We are grateful to the doctors and nurses in the Cardiovascular ICU at Southlake for their compassionate and empathetic care.
A Celebration of Life will be held once arrangements can be finalized. More details will follow.
