United Way Simcoe Muskoka is currently accepting applications for new board members.

“Our board is critical in guiding our efforts to address complex issues across Simcoe-Muskoka,” says Brian Shelley, chief executive and philanthropy officer, United Way Simcoe Muskoka.

The local United Way’s board is made up of individuals from diverse sectors dedicated to reducing poverty and fostering social inclusion across Simcoe-Muskoka. Shelley stated that the United Way is encouraging applications from all interested parties, including those who have been traditionally underrepresented on boards of directors. This would include women, those who identify as 2SLGBTQI+, Black, Indigenous and racialized persons, individuals with disabilities, and bilingual/multilingual individuals.

“To effect the change we want to see in our community, we need to have a variety of voices and lived experiences in leadership roles,” said Shelley. “We are committed to building a board of directors that is reflective of the face of Simcoe-Muskoka.”

Interested individuals are invited to visit uwsimcoemuskoka.ca/governance.

United Way Simcoe Muskoka will be accepting applications until April 29.
