Sudsy Foam Fest draws thousands to Horseshoe Resort

'I loved it. It was really fun, and we kept cool because of all the water obstacles. It was great,' said one of the participants

There was no better way to enjoy a warm summer day than taking part in the 5K Foam Fest at Horseshoe Resort in Oro-Medonte on Saturday.

A few thousand people flocked to the resort to take on a course that had 22 obstacles, mud pits and, of course, plenty of foam.

Olivia Filici, 11, of Brampton, was among those who took on the challenging race.

She said the “giant water slide” was her favourite part.

“One, because I didn’t scream, and two, because I wanted to go on a thing that my mom was afraid of so that I could make her look like a chicken,” she said with a laugh.

The sliding fun wasn’t just for kids. Adults enjoyed it just as much as the children.

Jenna Knuff, of Barrie, described the slide as “climbing up about 50 feet, and then sliding back down into a messy, watery, fun pile.”

With the running course that was part of the event, what better way to stay fit? “I hate jogging,” said Knuff. “This is a lot more fun.”

Caitlyn Ashworth, of Barrie, agreed.

“I loved it. It was really fun, and we kept cool because of all the water obstacles. It was great.”
