Stacked Pancake & Breakfast House opened in Orillia earlier this week.
Owner Nirmal “Raj” Patel is the former owner of The Country Style which closed around a year ago in the same 130 Atherley Rd. shopping centre.
“I just love this town,” Patel said. “Orillia people are awesome, and we are excited to be able to provide high-quality breakfast food for them. I’m getting goosebumps just talking about it.”
Patel, 34, says a construction issue delayed the building of the restaurant, which took two years to come to fruition. He says he is happy to be back in business.
“Country Style was my first home,” he said. “The crowd there was fantastic and I missed it big-time.”
In just two days of being open, Patel says a lot of his former customers have already supported his new business venture.
“People are excited that we are finally open,” he said. “People were watching to see when it was going to be ready.”
Patel says those who haven’t dined at a Stacked Pancake & Breakfast House before in other communities, are "quite impressed" with the quality and quantity of the food.
“Feedback has been fantastic,” he said. "The response has been really good, and people are really happy with the food.”
While there are plenty of other well-established breakfast joints In Orillia, Patel is confident in his brand.
“I think people are going to enjoy the variety of food that we have,” he said. “We have 10 different kinds of pancakes and French toast, plus we have a really nice lunch menu with daily specials.”
While Stacked is the only business currently open in the new building adjacent to Giant Tiger, a Subway, La Diperie ice cream shop, and BarBurrito — all owned by Patel — are all expected to be officially opened by the end of the month.
“So many people asked me why I’m opening these new franchises in the same place,” Patel said. “I think the town has to grow from every side. Being in the south end of Orillia for 10 years, I know the people, and I wanted to bring more choices to them.”
