Rainfall Warning in effect for:

  • Barrie - Orillia - Midland

Rain, at times heavy, is expected.

Hazard: Rain, at times heavy, with amounts near 50 mm. Locally higher amounts are possible for areas which receive multiple thunderstorms.

Timing: Now through this evening.

Discussion: A Colorado low is expected to bring rain, at times heavy, and thunderstorms to the area. Precipitation is expected to begin as freezing rain or ice pellets for areas east of Georgian Bay before changing to rain later this morning. The heaviest rain is expected this morning through the afternoon.

Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible. Watch for possible washouts near rivers, creeks and culverts.

Freezing rain expected this morning.

Hazards: Freezing rain with ice accretion of 5 mm possible.

Timing: Now through later this morning.

Discussion: Freezing rain is expected to develop early this morning and continue into the late morning before temperatures rise above the freezing mark. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery. Ice build-up may cause tree branches to break. Utility outages may occur.
