Quest Art School + Gallery is please to announce the launch of Endangered Boreal Art and the Environment Tour, 2021: 'Recover and Coexist with Nature.'

This is the first component of a multi-year international project. From Aug. 16 to Aug. 29, 20 artists and curators will explore and be immersed in the environment of Northern Ontario, creating a series of artworks that speak to the natural world in this region. This exhibition will be subsequently shown in the multiple countries and across Canada.

By visiting multiple ecological sites, the artists will have an opportunity to engage with Northern Ontario ecosystems. There will also be professional talks from: Indigenous Storytellers and Elders, Forestry Engineers and Planners, Anthropologists, Historians, Artists, Curators, and Naturalists familiar with the forests of the region and with the Arts in Northern Ontario.

The main coordinators of this project are Dermot Wilson and Cesar Forero, both professional artists with extensive, worldwide exhibition and curatorial experience. The two coordinators represent and are members of some of the Canadian and International organizations partnering in this project. The Canadian Curatorial Committee includes: Virginia Eichhorn (Quest Art School + Gallery), Cesar Forero and Dermot Wilson.

Wilson and Forero are supported by teams from the Contemporary Art Committee and the Nipissing Region Curatorial Collective (NRCC). Additional partnerships have been created with Quest Art School + Gallery, Timmins Museum, Temiskaming Art Gallery and the Near North Mobile Media Lab. Our activities have been supported by: Canada Council for the Arts, Ontario Arts Council and the Department of Canadian Heritage.
