Bracebridge Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were dispatched to a two vessel boating collision on July 14, 2021 at 7:40 p.m. on Lake Rosseau near Windermere Marina after receiving multiple 911 calls from members of the public. Witnesses described seeing several people in the water after the collision. Officers, along with Muskoka EMS, Muskoka Lakes Fire Department, the OPP Marine Unit, the OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit (USRU) and the OPP Aviation Unit responded. Unfortunately, the collision claimed the life of a 13-year-old youth from Toronto and 51-year-old Donna Wiley of Oakville.

The investigation is ongoing and Bracebridge OPP is asking anyone who resides in the area where the collision occurred and who may have surveillance or video coverage of the area to share that information with investigators. Call Bracebridge OPP at 1-888-310-1122.

Bracebridge Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were dispatched to a two-vessel boating collision on July 14, 2021 at 7:40 p.m. on Lake Rosseau near Windermere Marina after receiving multiple 911 calls from members of the public. Witnesses described seeing several people in the water after the collision. Officers, along with Muskoka EMS, Muskoka Lakes Fire Department, the OPP Marine Unit, the OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit (USRU) and the OPP Aviation Unit responded.

A total of six people were on board the two vessels at the time of the collision and four were rescued from the water and rushed to hospital with injuries. Three of the injured have since been released from hospital and one was airlifted to a Toronto area hospital where they are being treated for life-threatening injuries.

Unfortunately, a 13-year-old youth from Toronto was confirmed deceased at the scene.

Search efforts resumed this morning and continued throughout the day despite inhospitable conditions and at 4 p.m. OPP USRU recovered the body of 51-year-old Donna Wiley of Oakville.
