Pay and display parking to return to Tiny meters in early August

Business owners looking to ‘recover some revenue that they’ve lost’, says CAO

Pay and display parking is set to be reinstated on or before August 6.

Early August looks to be when pay and display parking is reinstated to Tiny township’s municipal locations.

“It will take in excess of a week in order to install the machines, and do the necessary calibration and updates to make sure that they are fully functioning,” declared CAO Robert Lamb to Tiny council this week.

Lamb set a target date of August 6, but stated that it could be sooner if preparations moved accordingly.

“At our last Municipal Emergency Control Group (MECG) meeting,” said Lamb, “the last recommendation that council accepted was that we open all of the remaining parking. We had some of our parking blocked off to reduce the number of parking spaces, to help manage and control crowds at the beaches.”

The province eased restrictions this month during Step 3 of its Roadmap to Reopen, which allowed the MECG to reinstate paid parking back as it affects the general public.

According to Lamb, “the Mayor and I had a conversation with a representative as well from some of the businesses down at the Balm Beach area, and they were asking and hoping that we would be reinstating visitor parking…  so they have a chance to at least recover some revenue that they’ve lost to this time period.”

Updates to Tiny parking are available on the township website.
