Wondering what’s happening in healthcare these days? Well, you’re not alone.

That’s why this Wednesday’s edition of the popular Our Health series will explore the issue by hearing from several local officials, including the Ontario Medical Association's president, on the subject during a panel discussion at the Midland Cultural Centre Wednesday evening.

“Healthcare is in the news almost every day,” a release promoting the event states. “Waiting times for emergency visits and surgical procedures have skyrocketed, many have no access to a family physician, healthcare staffing levels are at critical levels and there is limited access to home care services.

“Some refer to healthcare as a crisis or collapse and call for innovative and fundamental changes! These issues and more are at the top of all Ontarians minds.”

Led by moderator Dr. Keith Rose, the “What's up with Healthcare?” panel’s lead guest is Dr. Rose Zacharias, who is currently president of the Ontario Medical Association and has worked as a family physician in the area for more than 20 years.

Joining the two doctors for the evening are: lawyer and disability/accessibility advocate Lisa Belcourt, entrepreneur and community supporter Jamie Tripp and retired RPN and Tay council member Mary Warnock.

Local residents are invited to email questions for the panel in advance to [email protected].

This Our Health event will be broadcast live at 7:30 p.m. on all Rogers tv channels across Simcoe County or can be viewed online.

All previous Our Health videos and program brochures are available on demand via the Midland Cultural Centre's website.
