Ontario reports 177 new COVID cases Sunday

Sunday's report also includes 166 recoveries

Public Health Ontario has reported 177 new COVID-19 cases today in the July 18 daily update.

Today's update includes 166 new recoveries and six deaths. 

The July 18 update provided by the province's public health agency also reported the following data:

  • 1,378 active, lab-confirmed cases, up from 1,373 yesterday.
  • 105 patients are currently hospitalized with COVID-19.
    • Public Health Ontario noted that more than 10 per cent of hospitals did not submit data to the Daily Bed Census, which could mean an increase on the next report
  • There are 150 patients in intensive care units with COVID-related illness (of those, 43 no longer test positive for COVID-19).
  • 107 people are on ventilators due to COVID-related illness (of those, 27 no longer test positive for COVID-19).
  • The province reported 14,805 tests were processed yesterday, resulting in a 1.0 per cent positivity rate. 
  • There are 4,936 tests still awaiting processing, and the provincial labs have processed 16.3 million tests to date.

Public Health Ontario has confirmed 548,217 cases of COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic, and reported 537,545 recoveries and 9,264 deaths.

Vaccines

  • There were 134,654 doses of vaccines against COVID-19 administered yesterday.
  • 18,114,229 doses of vaccine have been administered.
  • In total, 7,845,691 people have been fully vaccinated.
