MADD Canada continues to bring educational programs to students across Canada during the pandemic using innovative technology. Educating youth about the risks of impaired driving, and helping them develop lifelong safe and sober driving habits is an important way to prevent the tragic deaths and injuries that occur with people mix driving with alcohol and/or drugs.

“Educating youth about the dangers of driving impaired has always been a priority for MADD Canada.” says Dawn Regan, MADD Canada COO“ Not knowing how the 2020-2021 school year would evolve, MADD Canada made the bold move to create a virtual/online program to offer schools.”

The Wish, MADD Canada’s new youth education presentation for schools across Canada is available either in-person or online/virtual to schools across Canada. This impactful presentation brings drug and alcohol impaired driving awareness to our youth.

“Youth are at increased risk for impaired driving,” said Regan. “Road crashes are the number one cause of death among Canadian youth. More than half of those crashes involve alcohol and/or drugs. Our School Program is aimed at students in Grades 7 – 12, to illustrate the dangers of impaired driving and get them talking about how they can prevent and avoid it.”

MADD Canada offers several dynamic, effective education opportunities to help students in Grade 4 through Grade 12 understand the importance of sober driving. Programs are available in traditional in-person formats or through new virtual online formats, depending on school preferences and safety protocols.

Over the school year we will be presenting to various schools in the Barrie and surrounding areas.
