Local group striking up the band again for music lovers

Formerly the Georgian Bay Brass, Georgian Shores Concert Band members happy to again be performing before live audiences

A local group is back performing and sharing their love of music.

The Georgian Shores Concert Band (GSCB) of Midland and surrounding area performed their debut concert for King Place Retirement Home residents last week.

Concert band president Sadie Bridgeman said band members couldn’t be happier to finally getting back to doing what they love before an appreciative crowd.

“It has been a difficult journey for so many organizations, but GSCB are excited to be performing and sharing our music with the community,” Bridgeman said.

Last week’s concert, which was overseen by conductor Matthew Rodnick, marked the historic first performance of the newly formed band.

Formerly the Georgian Bay Brass, which was established in 2010, the musical group shifted to a concert band instrumentation, adding woodwinds to the mix, in February 2020.

“Growing to a 35+ member concert band, we rehearsed three times together before the pandemic forced a province-wide shut down,” Bridgeman said.

The band is also recruiting new members for the fall season. For more information, contact Bridgeman at (705) 245-1111 or [email protected].
