The Southern Georgian Bay Chamber of Commerce has a busy month in store for both job seekers and existing businesses.

On Saturday, the chamber will host a job fair at its downtown Midland office from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

“We have invited our businesses to set up a table to promote their job openings in any industry,” chamber general manager Cathy Tait told MidlandToday.

“We are then inviting the community to stop by to check out the job openings in the area.”

So far, businesses in attendance include: Rooted, RoyalTea on King, DeFerrari Home, The Pebble Tree, Petroff’s Garage and Towing, Chartwell Retirement Residences, Black Light Investigative and Security Services, Olive Oil Co., Inc. Barrie-Newmarket-Midland & representatives from Maple Leaf Marinas.

And until Friday, April 21, the chamber is accepting nominations for businesses that go above and beyond in making the community a better place to live.

“Our annual Business Achievement Awards offer well-deserved recognition to North Simcoe businesses for their successes and contribution to our community,” Tait said.

“We are thrilled to celebrate our businesses and to showcase the people behind the business, their entrepreneurial spirit, their unique stories and their achievements.”

All nominees will be recognized via social media and the chamber’s e-newsletter. Winners will be announced and awards will be presented in early May.

There are nine categories and businesses can be nominated for more than one category.

Categories for this year's awards are: small business (1-9 employees), medium business (10-49 employees), large business (50+ employees), new business, ambassador, community support/spirit, agricultural, outstanding employee and outstanding employer.
