NEWS RELEASE
THE HURONIA COMMUNITY FOUNDATION
*************************
In the winter of 2000, a small group of giving individuals met with a common purpose in mind. They were committed to supporting and sustaining our Southern Georgian Bay communities forever.

From this first meeting the Huronia Community Foundation was born.

After two decades, the mission remains the same… we are a charity for charities. The Huronia Community Foundation has over 80 individual funds created by caring citizens, charities and businesses who recognize the value of endowment funds. Together, these funds total over 3.2 million dollars in support of charities across the Southern Georgian Bay region.

On the evening of Wednesday, March 25, past and present members of the Foundation along with fund holders and donors will meet at the Midland Public Library. During this event, Huronia Community Foundation will recognize our founding fathers, along with the philanthropic individuals who have carried on their legacy.

The celebration will be held in the Assembly Hall of the Midland Public Library from 5-7 p.m. with a special presentation at 6 p.m., which will feature a look back on our two decades of giving and the exciting plans for 2020.

In the words of one of our founders, the late Gil Robillard, “An endowment is a way your money is perpetually working for you. It is invested and the earnings only are used for charitable programs that the donor is interested in supporting ie: art, music, seniors, youth, health care, you name it. I believe everyone wants to help each other in their own way. This is a way for a lot of people to participate-you don’t have to be a millionaire.”
