MaryLynn West-Moynes, president and CEO of Georgian College, will be the next guest of host Fred Hacker on A Day in the Life at the Midland Cultural Centre. The program is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 3.

West-Moynes has had an outstanding career in post-secondary education, culminating in her appointment at Georgian. West-Moynes is retiring from Georgian in June after 10 years at the helm of the college. Her appearance on A Day in the Life provides an excellent opportunity to reflect on her contributions to education in Ontario.

West-Moynes is highly regarded throughout the Ontario college and university system. Respected for her innovation and her strategic approach, she has an enviable record of achievement. During her tenure at Georgian, the college launched 37 new programs in response to industry and community needs, including establishing a collaborative partnership with Lakehead University where students can earn both a diploma and a degree in just four years.

As president and CEO, West-Moynes oversaw the expansion of Georgian’s footprint across its seven campuses. Among the many highlights of her term has been the significant growth in research, innovation, and scholarship activity, as well as the Ashoka U designation as Canada’s only changemaker college. The Henry Bernick Entrepreneurship Centre was also recognized with two prestigious international awards.

West-Moynes has a special commitment to students. She has championed meaningful and authentic action toward Truth and Reconciliation within the college. She has launched a bold digital innovation strategy to deliver an unrivalled student experience. She has made it a priority to focus on equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging. And she has fostered a more agile campus culture so that both students and employees can flourish at a college dedicated to changemaking and creativity.

The conversation on May 3 will focus on West-Moynes’ remarkable career and it will also address the challenges being faced in post-secondary education in Ontario and her perspective on the road ahead.
