The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit has reported 25 new COVID-19 cases and no new deaths today (June 9).
Of the new cases reported today, 20 are in Simcoe County and five are in Muskoka District.
There are 220 active cases in the region.
Since the start of the pandemic, the local health unit has confirmed 12,102 cases of COVID-19 with 11,211 of those cases recovered and 246 cases ending in death.
There are 24 people from Simcoe County and one person from Muskoka District hospitalized with COVID-19, which is includes one new hospitalization since yesterday's update.
The health unit has reported a total of 4,732 variant strain cases, with 137 of those still active.
To date, 357,796 Simcoe-Muskoka residents (59.2 per cent of the population) region have received their first dose of vaccination against COVID-19, which is 69.8 per cent of the region's over-18 population.
As of today, 50,394 people (8.3 per cent of the population) have also received a second dose.

The new cases reported in Simcoe County and Muskoka District today include (case transmission is under investigation unless otherwise specified).
- Tay (1): One person between 45 and 64 years old whose case is linked to close contact.
- Penetanguishene (3): Three between 18 and 34 years old.
- Collingwood (1): One person between 45 and 64 years old.
- Wasaga Beach (2): One person between 35 and 44 years old and one person between 65 and 79 years old. One case is linked to close contact transmission.
- Barrie (8): Three youth under 18 years old, two people between 18 and 34 years old, and three people between 35 and 44 years old. Five cases are linked to close contact transmission.
- Springwater (2): Two people between 18 and 34 years old.
- Innisfil (1): One person between 18 and 34 years old whose case is linked to close contact with another known case.
- Bradford (1): One youth under 18 years old.
- New Tecumseth (1): One person between 35 and 44 years old.
- There are five new cases in Muskoka, including one in Muskoka Lakes, one in Huntsville, two in Gravenhurst, and one in Bracebridge.
