Community Builders is pleased to announce their second Information Session for their Construction Trainee Program (CTP) that takes place on Wednesday, Aug. 25 at 12 p.m. through Zoom.

The CTP is a 16-week paid program for people aged 18 to 29 years old who have barriers to employment which include, but are not limited to, a lack of education, a criminal record, being a member of a minority group, and a long-term history of unemployment.

The CTP is designed as pre-employment training and focuses on giving its participants the tools that they need to succeed. Trainees are taught employment readiness skills, life skills, and most importantly, they’ll get real on-the-job construction training in a supportive and supervised environment.

“I love seeing folks gain confidence they didn’t have before they came here," says Community Builders co-founder and CEO Brandon Day. “Many people who join our Construction Trainee Program don’t have the support or opportunities most of us enjoy, but when they get the opportunities and they join our community, it gives them a sense of belonging and encouragement to move forward.

"They begin dreaming about what their future could look like with their new found skills and supportive community behind them.”

During the program, trainees will receive a personal case manager who will work with them to create an individualized employment plan and pathways that will lead them to a prosperous career in the trades of their choice.

The case manager can also help to identify and support them through any barriers that could hinder their training or employment such as transportation, mental health, housing, or food security.

Anyone interested in learning more about being involved in the Construction Trainee Program are invited to register for the Aug. 25 Information Session by going to bit.ly/CBaugust.

About Community Builders

Community Builders is Simcoe County’s leading Not-for-Profit Construction based Social Enterprise. We provide training, employment, and affordable housing to meet the growing needs of our community’s most vulnerable and at risk populations. Community Builders has two main divisions to serve our community’s needs. Our Community Division is always hard at work to create meaningful employment, hopeful housing and healthy communities.

One of the ways we do this is through our Construction Trainee Program. Our Builder Division builds custom homes, legal second suites and performs renovations of all types. While we pride ourselves in creating affordable housing we also love using our creativity and skill to build for our supporters and create more connections, employment opportunities and pathways for our people.

We are creating healthier communities by purposely hiring folks with barriers to employment to teach and equip them with the construction and life skills they need for a prosperous career in the trades.
