CLH Foundation has launched its inaugural Walk this Way fundraising event, to be held on Aug. 28 at Penetanguishene’s Rotary Champlain Wendat Park.

The friendly, all-ages, all-access walk begins at 9 a.m., and will raise funds to support CLH Foundation’s Commitment to Care initiative, which underwrites the cost of essential and critically needed (but unfunded) medical and personal health expenses for 90 adults who live in CLH’s supported living homes. CLH Developmental Support Services operates 20 homes in Midland, Penetanguishene, and Tay Township.

CLH Developmental Support Services is unique in its long-time practice of covering these expenses on behalf of CLH-supported individuals, to ensure their continued health and well-being. In the face of ever-rising costs and other pandemic challenges, CLH Foundation has taken responsibility for ensuring that this coverage continues; Commitment to Care is a significant focus of its annual fundraising efforts.

“Making sure those supported by CLH Developmental Support Services have uninterrupted access to essential medical and personal items as well as continued quality of life and plentiful opportunities to participate continues to be our highest priority,” says CLH Foundation board president Sarah Kitchen.

Walk this Way has a fundraising goal of $10,000.

Walk this Way is supported by many generous community partners, including lead sponsor Meridian, led by its Penetanguishene branch.

“We are so pleased to support the Commitment to Care initiative and CLH Foundation, and to further Meridian’s commitment to our community,” says branch manager Dorothy Blanks.

To participate, walkers are asked to sign up and raise or donate a minimum of $25. For more information, visit www.clhmidland.on.ca/walk-this-way.
