The A Day in the Life series welcomes a Canadian filmmaker to the Midland Cultural Centre stage next month.

On January 25, Alison Reid will join host Fred Hacker to discuss her directing and film-making career along with her passion for adventure.

Reid began her career as a stunt performer and stunt coordinator racking up more than 300 film and TV credits while stunt doubling and working with many ‘A’ list actors and directors.

Along with her drive for excitement, Reid has a strong passion for storytelling. She formed Free Spirit Films in order to make films diverse in genre but similar in their exploration of the human spirit, according to a release.

Under that banner, she directed and produced award-winning LGBTQ2+ feature comedy The Baby Formula and the critically acclaimed feature documentary, The Woman Who Loves Giraffes, which was shown worldwide and drew awards and critical acclaim, including a 100% Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Her television directing credits include the new Amazon series Beyond Black Beauty, cop ‘dramedy’ Hudson & Rex, family dramas Good Witch and Heartland, period drama Murdoch Mysteries and medical drama Saving Hope.

The event gets underway at 7:30 p.m. with doors opening a half hour earlier. Tickets are $31.12 and can be purchased here.
