Applications now open to become Tiny's next councillor

Prospective candidates have until October 22 to submit their applications

Tiny Township is looking for a new councillor to fill the position vacated by Tony Mintoff.

The term runs until Nov. 14, 2022 with interested candidates required to submit their applications by 2 p.m. on Oct. 22 at the municipal office on Balm Beach Rd.

Prospective candidates must be a qualified municipal elector as set out in the Municipal Elections Act, 1996 and fulfil all of the following requirements:

• Resides in or be the owner or tenant of land in Township of Tiny, or the spouse of such owner or tenant;

• Is a Canadian citizen;  

• Is at least 18 years old; and,  

• Is not prohibited from voting under Section 17(3) of the Municipal Elections Act, 1996 or otherwise by law.

Prior to submitting an application, interested individuals should refer to the Municipal  Act, 2001 and the Municipal Elections Act, 1996 for further details relating to the  required qualifications.

Interested qualified individuals must complete and submit a council vacancy application form, nomination endorsement form (25 signatures) and a declaration of qualifications form to the clerk’s office.
